Hasegawa Taizou, also known as Hasegawa Heiji, is a supporting character in the Gintama series. He is a former samurai who lost his way after the Meiji Restoration and became a civil servant. He is often depicted as a lazy, laid-back, and somewhat perverted character. Despite his appearance, he is highly skilled in martial arts and swordsmanship. He is a recurring character throughout the series, often appearing in comedic relief roles or as a minor antagonist.
